Kindness

I find myself this week extremely frustrated at Dagny. She creates ‘push and pull’ factors that make me want to immigrate into her world and become her friend but at the same time emigrate and distance myself as far as I can from her. Dagny presented quite an interesting analogy to me. I pointed out that although bounded by rusting tracks, trains have a greater capacity to be freer than human beings. They can witness the sights of America without a worry in the world. In relation, human beings are more mechanical than the actual trains.
People of this society are confined by themselves. In order to detach from their tracks, Dagny’s world has to experience and commit acts of selflessness and kindness in that it is the soul of humanity. Unlike any other material good of the world, this intangible idea is not limited, but rather grows and is infinite. In order to achieve this goal, people of this society have to turn off their every growing desire to expand their businesses and look into the eyes of those who surround them. Dagny’s society is inclined to detach themselves from the present. They have no hunger for truth, justice, righteousness, love, reconciliation, humility, or even forgiveness. In order to heal themselves, they have to express kindness to the planet, themselves, and others. It is a hard battle in that not everyone can commit acts of kindness; however, the reward’s effects are bountiful.
But some may ask “why be kind? What about the ‘me’ time?”. If asked, those people do not realize that kindness is a fundamental basis of humanity. They do no acknowledge the fact that every human being is equal on this earth so thus, everyone deserves to receive kindness. Finally, if humanity is  able to become selfless and commit acts of kindness, the world benefits themselves and connects. People of Dagny’s society have yet to feel the benefits of connecting with another human being.
Kindness is the key to kill the serpent. With it, they can slay it’s wrath and separate from its hypnotic trance. Dagny and her colleagues have a shortage of kindness at this moment. In order to improve themselves and their society, they will have to hunt for a substantial supply of it if they want to have a sliver of a meaningful existence.
