I was tricked

My initial feelings of Dagny and Hank’s relationship were positive, hopeful, and supportive. There was something about the two that was exhilarating. Maybe it was their sly way of going behind Lillian Rearden’s or possibly their exclusive “business” trips. Either way I was a full supporter of the relationship and only hoped the two would last. Now looking at their relationship in a different set of eyes, I see two slimy people, carefully ruining the marriage of Hank and Lillian. Instead of being so infatuated by the emotions of the relationship, I began to look at the facts of the scandalous situation.
Hank is a married man. Although his only motivation is producing more money, he appeared to be a descent man. My current perception of Hank is rather disappointing from my previous one. He is a sneaky, conniving, and selfish individual. His marriage, what is left of it, is crumbling beneath him. What does he care to fix the hopeless affair between him and Lillian? There is never a good enough reason to cheat. If you cannot seem to work things out, then divorce. To go behind your spouse’s back and pretend to be on business trips is disgusting. I’m not quite sure how I ever let the heat of Dagny and Hank’s relationship win me over. At this point, my respect for both characters is nonexistent.
As for Dagny, I am shocked. I had faith in her and was her biggest fan until I paid closer attention to the reality of this affair. She thinks that because her love life is pathetic and hopeless, that she can ruin a marriage between another couple. I find that excuse to be even more pathetic than her actual love life. Dagny, above Hank, has dissatisfied me and lost all of my trust. She should stop acting superior to her peers and maybe look at the disappointment she has become, maybe then she will hop off her high horse.
