Detoxing

During my last entry I pointed out the serpent's hold on the men and women of the Atlas Shrugged society. This week, however, Dagny hit a turning point when  her company no longer stood by her new project as a result of the manipulations and cunningness of society. In a sense, Dagny was detoxing from the serpent’s venom and went on a journey to dig herself out of the grave that she put herself in.
In addition, this week I myself had a dramatic change of heart. I finally connected with Dagny and was rooting for her in the sense that I feel she is now the underdog of the story. She is more personable in that she is opening up to herself. She expresses to her reader passion, joy, laughter, and even conveys the hardships that are presented when the world is against you. Furthermore, Dagny made a direct connection with me when she got on her knees in front of Francisco and relinquished the proper, self dignified businesswoman that she once claimed to be while begging for assistance.
Dangy is no longer purely logical bur rather amalgamates scientific reason with the insight of the psychological needs and desires of human beings. I am extremely excited that this shift took place in the novel in that Atlas Shrugged is solely no longer a story about a robotic society that the serpent /government has brought about. Rather, it is the narrative of a woman who has to detoxify from the serpent's hold and confront every obstacle that society presents to her in order to become the triumphant, self serving, self actualized protagonist that the audience wants her to be.
