Throughout the first two chapter of Atlas Shrugged, a comparison was made between Dagny Taggart and Hank Rearden. They both are dedicated to their companies, with their sole priority being the company's income. This is shown clearly when Rearden has a discussion with his family about him being selfish and work-oriented. He does not realize his wedding anniversary date and only gives Phillip's organization money to please Phillip rather than help those who are unfortunate. This has a direct correlation to Dagny Taggart because her brother describes her to only want money, something that makes her successful as Vice President of the company. He also states that she has no relationships. She agrees that she has never felt anything at all. This is the same reaction Rearden has to his family. Miss Tagart also does not intend to help people, specifically the smaller companies that her brother would like to include in their shippers. She would rather get good service, so that the company could profit. Both characters have similar personalities which prove them to be successful as entrapanuers, but not as individuals who prioritize family.
